Here are the instructions for adding or changing the web pages in the SCCC's web site. This page does not intend to help you design a web page but you should be able find those info easily from the Internet. If you have already had the MS FrontPage (i.e. part of MS Office), this is the preferred tool for editing and managing web pages, as it has specific features for designing more sophisticated web pages and make managing the web site structures easier. Otherwise, MS Words may also do the job properly (e.g. editing one simple web page).

To maintain / edit an existing page:

1) locate the page you want to edit You may open "My Document" as a start or any folder will also do. Locate the Address box, which should show "My Document" in the box for the case of "My Document" folder. You may now enter the string as shown "ftp://ftp.swindon-sccc.org/htdocs" (to replace "My document" in the address box) and you effectively open the SCCC's web site as you do open a folder in your local harddrive. All SCCC's web pages are now shown in this folders. You may open each of the pages to find out which page you want to edit. Here are the descriptions of the current pages: index.htm - The root page of SCCC's web site - this is the page you see when accessing "www.swindon-sccc.org". news.htm - This is the page for 團契通訊站 hymns.htm - 崇拜聖詩 staff.htm - 團契職員

2) open and update the web page
You may use either MS FrontPage or MS Words as previously mentioned. Once you go to File -> Open, you may enter the string "ftp://ftp.swindon-sccc.org/htdocs/xxx.htm" note: xxx is the file name you want to edit.

3) save the web page
You may save the web page as you normally save a document in MS Words. You may be challenged for write access, and you should enter user name as "swindon-sccc" and password (contact Henry for assistance).

4) Check!
You have already updated the web page and you may find the content from the Internet Explorer or other web browser.

To create a new page:

1) You are assumed to have a page prepared already on your harddrive. (you should save a local copy for your future reference)

2) Upload your new page to SCCC's web site You may follow step 3 (save the web page) in the procedure of maintaining web page. The filename should be simple and sensible to you and others,

3) Now create an link from the "home page" first, you should open the home page "ftp://ftp.swindon-sccc.org/htdocs/index.htm" and add a new item below the existing items (e.g. 崇拜聖詩) . You may check the existing items as an example and find out how it could be done for your new item.

4) save the new home page and check!

You have already updated the web page and you may find the content from the Internet Explorer or other web browser.
